Description:
Katti Batti starring Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut is all set to hit the theaters this month. The music of the film has been composed by Shankar, Ehsaan and Roy. With six songs in the album, it seems the composers have tried their hands at making a complete album with a mixture of romantic, party and slow paced tracks.

Lip To Lip - Katti Batti Music Review

Lip To Lip is a peppy Punjabi song penned by Kumaar. The song’s quirky lyrics are sure to make it popular. The music is not exactly extraordinary as it lacks the zing that the lyrics have. Ritu Pathak’s voice does not blend well for a duet with Nikhil D’souza and that is quite disturbing for me. Nikhil does a good job since his voice is tailor made for such song which have a pop setting.

Sarfira - Katti Batti Music Review

Every film needs a party track and Sarfira is exactly that. High on beats, the song is a good dance number and what works for it even more is its contemporary lyrics. The word ‘Sarfira‘ is used as a good metaphor to the concept of madness in love. Siddharth Mahadevan and Neeti Mohan’s vocals give this track the much needed energy and are spot on. The song will enjoy a seasonal popularity but no longevity.

Sau Aasoon - Katti Batti Music Review

Sau Aasoon is a typical break-up song that has been penned beautifully by Kumaar. The song is not similar but will give you a feel of the late 80s classic ‘It Must Have Been Love by Roxette’. The song starts off slow and picks its pace mid-way. Sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Rasika Shekhar, I feel the song could have been much better had it been a male solo. Rasika’s portions in the song doesn’t contribute as much feel as compared to Shankar’s soulful singing.

Jaago Mohan Pyaare - Katti Batti Music Review

I hope this song has some significance in the film because otherwise it is a complete waste of time. The pop rock song has too many variations and the lyrics are so confusing that you lose the link midway. The music also has a similarity to Bhaag DK Bose of Delhi Belly. Multiple vocalists take the mike and there is no fun in it.

Ove Janiya - Katti Batti Music Review

Mohan Kannan is one singer who needs to sing more often for Bollywood films. His vocals have the quality to make a mediocre song sound extremely heart-wrenching. After popular tracks like Chaandaniya from 2 States and Yaariyan from Cocktail, he comes with a similar style melancholic number. Along with his vocals, it is the beautiful guitar that works its charm. This is one of the best songs from the album.

The song also has a female version which is composed on piano. Sung by Sayani Palit, the song’s calm and composed feel will get you contemplative. The low-key number is beautiful. Rarely composers opt for piano based unplugged versions but this one’s a winner.
